Dans la première partie, on fait ressortir l'intérêt que portent les principaux acteurs de la culture moderniste, en Occident et en Russie, aux enjeux mis en place par la pensée anarchiste. On montre également que, pour la Russie, cet intérêt est stimulé entre autres par des conditions, présentes depuis longtemps dans sa propre tradition culturelle. On souligne par ailleurs, en prenant l'exemple de Hlebnikov et de Rodčenko, l'implication initiale de l'avant-garde à la fois dans la démarche et dans les
structures anarchistes. La deuxième partie de l'article aborde l'œuvre utopiste et polémique des frères Gordin, militants anarchistes de l'époque révolutionnaire. Elle essaye de faire apparaître les rapports multiples que cette œuvre entretient avec la problématique générale du modernisme.
