Dans le cadre d'un cours, je me suis retrouvée à faire une entrevue avec une femme qui avait milité à Pointe-Saint-Charles à Montréal depuis trente ans. Cheveux teints en vert, habillée en pantalons de combat, la jeune féministe radicale que j'étais à l'époque a eu une révélation ce jour-là. Cette femme, qui aurait pu être ma grand-mère, m'a fait comprendre que l'implication dans son quartier, ça change une vie. Elle me dit : "C'est comme une piqûre d'insecte qui nous transmet un virus dont il est impossible de se débarrasser". Une fois qu'on a compris l'injustice , qu'on a vu ce qui était possible, on ne peut plus voir le monde comme avant. J'avais la piqûre!"
Depuis cette date, Anna Kruzynski s'est sentie chez elle et s'est impliquée dans de nombreuses initiatives alternatives et populaires de ce quartier. Pendant plus de vingt ans, elle a été engagée dans de nombreux combats et engagements qui ont vu le jour à la Pointe. En même temps, elle a essayé d'en raconter l'histoire, ainsi que de rendre compte des enjeux et des problématiques de ce mouvement qui ne concerne pas seulement Pointe-Saint-Charles, mais peut être étendu, par analogie, à d'autres quartiers et d'autres régions. Cela permettra de mieux comprendre ce que nous vivons dans nos quartiers et ce vers quoi nous pourrions nous diriger, avec toutes les difficultés internes et externes inhérentes à ces tentatives d'enraciner profondément des changements libertaires dans la vie quotidienne."
